Carrie Underwood Red Lava Dress

Former American Idol Carrie Underwood became the first woman since 2000 to win the prestigious ACM Entertainer of the Year Award from the Academy of Country Music in the ceremony which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, hosted by country music legend Reba McEntire.

But it was the Carrie's lava dress that won the search engine battle.

The Carrie Underwood red dress was meant to be a surprise to viewers and the press was more or less sworn to secrecy.

The Associated Press wrote that the dress was treated as if it "were a matter of national security," noting that reporters had to promise "no photos, no video and no describing the gown" in order to gain access to rehearsals.

The Carrie Underwood dress was actually a ‘Rafael Cennamo merlot silk taffeta gown, with an exaggerated and dramatic ruffled train.’

According to the search analysis, there appears to be some confusion between the Academy of Country Music (ACM) which is a trade association headquartered in Los Angeles televising their annual awards show in the spring and the Country Music Association (CMA) hosting their award show in the fall.
